Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa)
An ‘Honorary degree’ is an academic degree for which a University or any Institution has waived all of the usual requirements like matriculation, attendance, course credits, a dissertation and the passing of comprehensive examinations. It is also known by the Latin phrases ‘honoris causa (for the sake of the honour)’ or ‘ad honorem (to the honour).’ The degree is typically a doctorate or less commonly, a master’s degree, and may be awarded to someone who has no prior connection with the academic institution or no previous postsecondary education.

- Advocacy for human rights
- Advocacy for prisoners' rights

- And other socially significant initiatives.
Government awardees from Indian states, the central government, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) are eligible for consideration for this prestigious honor.
The Governing Body of the Trust, chaired by the Chairman, is authorized to award this honor with the advice of the Central Council. The selection process is conducted without prejudice, ensuring inclusivity and recognition for outstanding contributions to society.
